Faith Communities pledge to tackle stigma

'See Me' campaign in Lanarkshire

Last month eleven Lanarkshire faith communities became the first in the country to unite together and publicly pledge their commitment to work with ‘See me’, Scotland’s national campaign to tackle the stigma and discrimination of mental ill-health.

Representatives from eleven faith communities publicly signed the pledge and agreed action plans to join with ‘See me’ to tackle the stigma and discrimination around mental health problems by taking action as community stakeholders.

Other mental wellbeing promotion initiatives taking place in Lanarkshire included the ‘Faith in Recovery Programme’ organised by Lanarkshire Spiritual Care Committee and Lanarkshire Recovery Network. Breathing Space National Coordinator Tony McLaren gave a presentation on Mental Health, Wellbeing & Spirituality as part of the programme.
