Clocks go forward

Summertime - but the living ain't easy?

British summertime officially begins on Sunday 29th March when the clocks go forward by one hour.

The increased daylight hours tends to brighten people’s mood however for those experiencing depression the change in seasons can actually heighten their feelings of hopelessness.

Breathing Space Service Manager, Stephen Anderson explains “Many people have the preconception that the brighter days will automatically lead to an increased feeling of happiness and wellbeing but in fact for people who are already feeling down it can have the opposite effect.  The onset of spring and summer can actually intensify their low mood which refuses to lift despite the improvement in weather and longer daylight hours.”

“That’s where a service like Breathing Space can help.  We have specialist phoneline advisors available every day of the year on 0800 83 85 87. Advice and guidance can be sourced online at www.breathingspacescotland.co.uk.”
