Breathing Space on the box

A TV campaign aimed at Scots men who are feeling depressed will hit the airwaves across Scotland this week. (W/c 5th June 2006).

Breathing Space – the free, confidential phone line aimed at men in Scotland who are feeling low or depressed will unveil a new TV campaign on ITV Scotland, Channel 4 and Channel 5.  The 30 second TV ad will run late at night during times when the phone line is open (6pm – 2am).

Tony McLaren, National Coordinator for Breathing Space said “We’re delighted to see the Breathing Space TV advert being shown across Scotland, especially as many of the advertising slots will coincide with World Cup coverage so hopefully we can reach a wide range of men.

The ad features the hand of a Scottish male doodling on a notepad whilst he is speaking on the phone.  He is assuring the caller on the other end of the line that he is “fine” but the obvious angst of his doodling tells a very different story.

Tony concludes “The guy is typical of Breathing Space’s target audience (men aged 16 – 40), he is putting on a face to the world when he is clearly experiencing some difficulties and feels unable to share his feelings with his friends or family.”
